MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR MINUTES

We get less than a thousand waking minutes each day. How do you spend yours?

According to recent survey data, Americans check their smartphones 13.8 times a day, totaling an average of 32 minutes. That means that you and millions of other smartphone owners will likely spend more time consuming tweets, status updates, photos and videos than you will cooking dinner tonight.

And that's not a bad thing.

Social media isn't just a way to pass idle time. With a global internet population now topping 2.4 billion, these networks are the means by which we connect to one another. Bits of content that may seem trivial on their own are actually integral pieces of a greater narrative. Where we go, who we interact with, and the things we are passionate about comprise our online identities. And in an increasingly connected world, our online identities hold the power to influence many.

A LOT CAN HAPPEN IN ONE MINUTE

2,963,805 posts, to be exact.

With over 2.4 million Facebook posts per minute, if you're the average American sleeping eight and a half hours each night, that means you're waking up to 1.2 billion posts that you missed overnight.

2,460,000 X 8:27 = 1,247,220,000 POSTS

Now that's a lot of scrolling.
